ISO 45001 (OHSMS) is a brand new international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It was published on 12 Mar 2018 and will follow other generic management system approaches such as ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. In addition, a previous announcement has been made by BSI (British Standards Institute), that the BS OHSAS 18001 Standard will be withdrawn and organizations currently certified to BS OHSAS 18001 will have a three-year period to migrate to ISO 45001.

 

ISO 45001:2018 can be used by any organisation regardless of activity or sector to put in place 

demonstrably sound occupational health and safety performance. It will take into account other International Standards in this area such as OHSAS 18001 and other 

various national standards and the ILO's international labour standards and conventions.
